The six processes

Mindfulness & Acceptance: • Acceptance — embracing private events • Defusion — changing relationship with thoughts • Present moment — flexible attention to now • Self-as-context — stable sense of self Commitment & Behaviour Change: • Values — chosen life directions • Committed action — values-consistent behaviour

Clinical application

  • Use the hexaflex for case conceptualisation
  • Identify which processes are most stuck
  • Any technique that serves these processes is ACT-consistent
  • Process > technique
